2005
WLACC
Patrol Challenge

(a Scavenger Hunt)

Balboa Oaks’ Scavenger Hunt was such an overwhelming success last year that for 2005 the event has been expanded to include the entire Council and will henceforth be known as the WLACC Patrol Challenge. We are projecting 2,000+ participants!!!

There are fun and challenging places to find, mysteries to unravel, weird items to obtain and cool things to do as a patrol. You will do stuff you have never done before and go places you never knew existed.

The patrol which earns enough points will be crowned "The WLACC Patrol Challenge Champs".

If you didn't participate last year, ask anyone who did and you will hear about the fantastic time that was had by all. A word of warning though, if you ask someone who went last year, be prepared to listen to a whole bunch of great stories and funny anecdotes. Tales are still being told with excitement months after the event. Read about last year’s event in the September edition of Scouting Magazine.

Competition will be stiff this year; we are projecting 100 patrols to participate.

Due to the size of the Council, there will be multiple starting locations to make the competition as fair as possible.

Three starting locations are planned:

Crescent Bay district - LDS Church, 3400 Sawtelle, LA 90066.

Cahuenga, Balboa Oaks, and Las Colinas districts - First United Methodist Church of Reseda, 18120 Saticoy St, Reseda (corner of Saticoy and Lindley).

Bill Hart and Antelope Valley districts - LDS Church, 35450 Penman Rd, Agua Dulce (Penman & Sierra Hwy).

LDS Units which choose to observe the Sabbath will start on Friday and finish on Saturday night. These units will compete only against other LDS units.

Jewish Units which choose to observe the Sabbath will start at sundown on Saturday and finish on Sunday. These units will compete only against other Jewish Units. The Saturday evening start location is - LDS Church, 17101 Plummer, Northridge (Plummer, West of Balboa).

This is a major event; please help us to plan it by sending an RSVP to pauloliver@verizon.net

Be a hero to your Troop, Venture Crew, Varsity Team, or Webelos 2 Den; encourage them to plan on attending this event. They will thank you, and you will thank yourself because it will be the most fun you will have all year - you can take that to the bank!

We look forward to challenging you!!!
